Founded in 1982, from Professor Fotis Mitsis and 20 founding members, the Hellenic Society of Periodontology makes an invaluable contribution to medical and research field. In 1993 became a full member of the European Federation of Periodontology. In fact, Professor Alki Andronikaki was the first Greek president of the European Federation of Periodontology in 1999, while in 2005 Dr Ioanna Kamma offered Greece another presidency in Federation.
Hellenic Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry main objectives are the improvement of science of dentistry in general and more specifically the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases in order to improve the oral health of the population.

Initially its headquarters was the department of Periodontology, Dental School, University of Athens. Later on, under the presidency of Professor Anthoula Kipioti-Diamanti, in 1992, the Hellenic Society of Periodontology bought its own private premises which comprise offices, a small auditorium and a library. The headquarters seated in 54-56 Ilidos street, Athens, Greece.
