Philip V. Bohlman (US) is Ludwig Rosenberger Distinguished Service Professor in Jewish History in the Department of Music at the University of Chicago, and honorary professor at the University of Music, Drama and Media in Hanover. His wide-ranging research examines the intersections of music with religion, colonialism, and racism. An active performer, he is artistic director of The New Budapest Orpheum Society. His most recent publications include Song Loves the Masses (with Johann Gottfried Herder; University of California Press, 2017) and Wie sängen wir SEINEN Gesang auf dem Boden der Fremde! (Lit, 2019).
