Isabelle Moindrot is currently professor of theatre studies at the University of Paris 8 Vincennes – Saint-Denis and senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). Her research focuses on contemporary opera staging, operatic dramaturgy, the history of spectacle from the nineteenth to the twenty-first centuries. Having opened up her research to the ecological imperatives of theatrical production and their impact on creation, she is now leading a project on Opera and Climate Change (2020-2025). In 2016 she was elected a corresponding member of the American Musicological Society. Her publications include La Représentation d’Opéra. Poétique et Dramaturgie (1993), L'Opéra seria ou le règne des castrats (1993), Le Spectaculaire dans les arts de la scène du Romantisme à la Belle Epoque (ed., 2006), L’Altérité en spectacle 1789-1918 (ed. with N. Coutelet, 2015). She is also director of the critical edition of the complete stage works of Victorien Sardou (2017-).
