Competition format

The format is designed so that all players compete against people of their caliber after the first Round, in order to ensure that even people who are not so strong in Kick Off 2 will enjoy themselves.

In Round 1, the players are divided in four groups of X/4, X being the total number of participants. They will play against each player in their group once.

The players who finish in positions 1-4 in Round 1 will proceed to the World Cup Groups.

The players who finish in positions 5-8 in Round 1 will proceed to the Silver Cup Groups.

The remaining players will proceed to the Bronze Cup Groups.

World Cup Groups

The 16 players will be divided in two groups of 8. They will play against each player in their group once.

The players who finish in positions 1-4 in the World Cup Groups will proceed to the knockouts stage (Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, Third Place Final, and World Cup Final) for positions 1-8. All knockouts and playouts in the Gold Group will be over two legs except for the Third Place Final which will be a single match.

The players who finish in positions 5-8 in the Gold Cup Groups will play knockout matches to determine their final positions (9-16).

Silver Cup Groups

The 16 players will be divided in two groups of 8. They will play against each player in their group once.

At the end of the group stage, each player will compete against the one who finished in the same position in the other group. Therefore, the players who finish 8th will play a playoff match-up for the 31st position, the players who finish 7th for the 29th position etc. The two group winners will compete for the Silver Cup.

Bronze Cup Groups

Provided that there are at least 38 players in the World Cup, there will be a Bronze Cup Group where everyone will play each other twice.

The top two players will compete in the single final for the Bronze Cup.

Competition RULES

1) Each game's duration is 2 halves of 5 minutes.

2) Normal pitch*, random referee*, wind off*, default scanner size*

3) Team A Vs Team B, International Skill Level

4) Team A = Team B

5) Yellow Vs Dark Blue kit design setup

6)  Aftertouch On, 100% speed,  Default lineups

7) Tactics allowed are: 4-2-4, 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 5-3-2, Balanced, Blitz, Falcon, Lockout, and can be selected any time during the game. Select using keys 1-8 respectively.

8) The default tournament rules indicate that autoslides are off and unintended slides are on. Unless both players choose a different (yet the same for both) setting before starting their match, the Competition Version will be set as per tournament default. If you are unfamiliar with Kick Off 2 Competition Version, click here to find out more.

9) If the Amiga crashes at any point during the game, the players should begin a new game starting with the same score they had at the time of the crash and for the approximate duration of the time that was remaining. If the players and the people who were watching the match cannot agree on the time of the crash, they should play for the maximum time the agree on. (Ie: If player A says there were 4 minutes remaining and player B says there 3, they will play a 4 minute game). In any case, the score will not change; it will always be the score they had at the time of the crash. If some players were sent off before the crash, they will remain off the pitch. We expect the players to be honest and base their estimations on fair play.

To remove a player from the pitch, pause the game, press ] and use the cursor keys to select him and R to remove/return him. To change the time remaining, press ] again and use the Time Menu.

10) In leagues, the players will be sorted by:

   a) Most points

   b) Most points in the match(es) between them

   c) Most goals in the match(es) between them

   d) Greatest goal difference

   e) Most goals scored

   f) In the unlikely event of a tie in all of the above, a playoff match

11) In knockout matches, the winner is the player who scores the most goals (no away goals rule). If both player have scored the same number of goals after the two games, they should play two halves of extra time (1:40 min each). If the score is still even after extra time, qualification will be decided on penalty kicks.

Remember to select Extra Time before a decisive knockout game. When you start the second leg of a playoff match, you must pause the game at the beginning and use the cursor keys to activate the “second leg” option and set the score of the first leg.

*These rules may change if both players agree, but if you do change them please remember to set the options back to default before leaving the Amiga.
