Kick off 2 competition version

We play Kick Off 2 in Kick Off 2 World Cups (duh). Some newcomers panic when they find out that we are using a reverse engineered version, fearing that it may be a very different game than the one they are used to playing. Rest assured that that is not the case. Most of the changes are in favor of better presentation and ease of use (new field graphics, detailed statistics, extra tactics can be selected in-game, goal names etc.). To see a complete list of all the versions and modifications and download the latest version, visit this page. The gameplay is largely left untouched, with a few notable exceptions. Some of them are self explanatory, such as that now Team A = Team B in terms of strength. Allow us to elaborate on the ones that aren't.

PB Dribble

Early on in the days of the Kick Off Association, it was discovered that different Kick Off 2 versions featured different dribbling. It was originally thought that the first dribbling method was only present in the original KO2 disk, while the second only in the pirated cracked version by Oracle. As a result, until we were able to reverse engineer the game, two versions were used in tournaments: 1,4 and Oracle.

In the player selection screen, you will have the option to turn Penalty Box Dribble (usually referred to as PBD) on or off. If it's off, pushing the ball inside and around the opponent's penalty box will feel the way it does in the rest of the field. When it's on, the ball tends to 'climb' on your player after a while. There is no right or wrong way, the question is which one you are used to playing.

Autofix

You know how sometimes your teammates tackle or jump on their own? Autofix prevents the players on your team who are not under your control from automatically sliding and heading the ball. The Tournament Default is YES, but it is up to you if you do not want to use it.

Trapfix

You know how sometimes you try to trap the ball, and instead your player tackles because an opponent is near it? Trapfix prevents that tackle from happening. Choose the option you prefer, keeping in mind that if one player chooses NO it will be automatically disabled for both players to match the tournament default.

More features

Other KO2CV features that may be of use to you during the World Cup are:

1. Substitutions

Substitution requests are now colour coded to show the requesting team. Multiple substitutions can be queued up and also cancelled by hitting the same Fkey again.

2. Pre-match Team Screen

You can press Esc to return to the Main Menu if you did something wrong, and you can also press 'R' to change the referee if both players agree.

3. Insert Leg 1 score

If you are playing the 2nd leg of a Knockout match, pause the game and use the arrow keys to insert the result of the first game. The aggregate score will be shown when the ball goes out of play, and extra time & penalty kicks will automatically be played if it's tied in the end.
