Dental anesthesia has always been a source of apprehension in dental practice, especially when treating children. It is commonly associated with pain, numbness, and fear.
What is intraosseous anesthesia? What are its indications, and what are the key steps required to ensure its effectiveness?
Nowadays, new techniques and innovative devices have emerged, allowing clinicians to perform controlled injections with major advantages: painless anesthesia, reduced soft-tissue numbness, and the possibility of anesthetizing an entire quadrant from a single injection site.
Through my experience in pediatric dentistry, the use of these modern anesthesia techniques has been a true game changer, particularly in challenging situations such as irreversible pulpitis, MIH, or the management of highly anxious children.
This lecture will explore the new era of dental anesthesia, focusing on intraosseous anesthesia, its clinical indications, practical protocols, and its impact on patient comfort and behavior management in contemporary pediatric dentistry.
